Wisconsin has many favorite fishing holes so it was difficult for us to put this list together. But with the help of local guides,charters,bait shops,anglers,and on-line research we did our best. We will start with #10 and go down to our #1 fishing lake in Wisconsin.
#10 Shell Lake – Cracking into our top 10 shell lake is over 2,500 acres in size and is located in Washburn county. One of Wisc anglers favorite destinations for largemouth bass along with pike.
#9 Shawano Lake – Over 6,000 acres and located in Shawano county Shawano is popular for fantastic pike fishing!
Also great walleye and muskie lake as well.
#8 Lake Wissota- 6,300 acres in size and located in Chippewa county anglers come from far distance for the excellent walleye fishing it provides. Also a favorite for bluegill and muskie.
#7 Lake Tomahawk – Located in Onedia county and almost 3,400 acres in size Lake Tomahawk is home to some of the best smallmouth fishing in the state. Also a good lake for walleye and pike.
#6 Balsam Lake – Polk county’s best lake is also the #6 “best fishing lake” in the state for us overall! Excellent pike and bass fishing are a couple of reasons why.
#5 Lake Mendota – Located in Dane county and over 9,800 acres in size this lake is in our top 5 simply for the walleye & pike fishing. Great lake for muskie as well.
#4 Lake Wisconsin – Located in Columbia county this massive lake that spreads out around 9,000 acres is all about one fish… walleye. Yes this fish brings people in from different states to try there luck with this
toothy critter. Other than walleye anglers love the pike fishing as well.
#3 Green Lake – Over 7,000 acres and located in Lake county this lake ranks so high soley on its fantastic largemouth bass fishing. One of the most popular fish in america Green lake is home to some big ones. Also good fishery for pike, walleye,and a few lake sturgeons.
#2 Lake Winnebago – Coming in at a whopping 137,708 acres this beauty of a lake is are choice for runner up. Main reasons are the fantastic large and smallmouth bass fishing along with the excellent pike, walleye, and crappie fishing. You can also try your luck with a lake sturgeon.
#1 Lake Geneva – Located in Walworth County and over 5,000 acres in size is our #1 fishing lake in Wisconsin! Our main reason is the many fish species it is home to. It has great walleye,crappie, bluegill and pike fishing.
Along with those you can catch lake trout, rainbow and brown trout as well! The smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing is excellent as well with anglers and guides giving great reports of big bass!
